A vane pump is a type of hydraulic pump used to create hydraulic flow in systems and machinery. There are many types of pumps for use in hydraulic systems with different structures. To understand better, join Truong Linh Parts to learn about vane pumps and their applications in this article.
1. Types of vane pumps
1.1. Single vane pump
A single vane pump is a type of hydraulic pump in which a single vane is used to create hydraulic pressure and flow in the system. This is one of the most popular and simple types of vane pumps.
Structure :
Pump Housing: The pump housing is the external part of the pump, containing all the internal components and protecting them from the external environment.
Rotor: Rotor is the main part of the pump, it has one or more vanes fastened around an axis. As the rotor rotates, the vanes move in and out of the pump chamber and create hydraulic flow.
Pump Chamber: The pump chamber is the space in the pump where hydraulic oil is sucked in and pushed out.
Suction Port: The suction port is where hydraulic oil from the external system is drawn into the pump to start the pumping process.
Outlet Port: After the hydraulic oil is compressed and pressurized in the pump chamber, it is pushed out through the discharge area to supply the hydraulic system.
Principle of operation:
The operating principle of a single vane pump is similar to that described in the previous question. The vane moves away from the pump shaft to create hydraulic pressure and flow. When the vane moves back near the shaft, hydraulic oil is drawn into the pump chamber to repeat the process.
Single vane pumps are commonly used in applications requiring steady hydraulic flow and constant pressure, such as in the hydraulic systems of industrial machinery and other applications.
1.2. Dual vane pump
A double vane pump is a type of hydraulic pump designed to generate hydraulic flow and pressure in hydraulic applications. Unlike a single vane pump, which has a single vane, a double vane pump has two parallel vanes or mounted apart on the same shaft.
It is considered to have a larger pumped flow and save maintenance costs than a single vane pump.
Structure:
Pump Housing: The pump housing is the peripheral part of the pump, surrounding the internal components and protecting them from the external environment.
Shaft: Shaft is the rotating component of the pump, they connect with the vanes.
Vane: Dual vane pumps have two or more vanes fastened to the shaft. The vanes move in and out of the pump chamber and create hydraulic flow as the shaft rotates.
Pump Chamber: The pump chamber is the space where hydraulic oil is compressed and pressurized.
Suction Port: The suction port is where hydraulic oil from the external system is drawn into the pump to start the pumping process.
Outlet Port: Hydraulic oil is pushed out through the discharge area to supply the hydraulic system.
